Kevin Pillay - Associate

The Professional
Kevin has more than 15 years experience in drafting patents, developing patenting strategies for high technology companies and intellectual property portfolio management. He provides advice not only to established corporations in wireless communications, embedded systems and encryption technologies, but also to startup companies, small businesses and universities in developing their intellectual property portfolios. In a previous life he was a founding partner in a boutique firm of patent and trademark agents and subsequently practiced for several years as a partner with several national law firms.

Kevin represents clients before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as before the International Authorities of the European Patent Office. He entered the patent profession in South Africa, before moving to Canada in 1989. Prior to becoming a patent agent, Kevin was employed as a design engineer in the development of radar and wireless navigational systems for naval applications.

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Natal, South Africa in 1987

In his spare time Kevin enjoys cycling, swimming and spending time with his daughter.
